I had the pleasure of shooting with Darío Vallano and his team this season again. They provided some very challenging birds, superb elevenses and the best hospitality I have ever seen. ¡Very much looking forward see you in Spain soon!

I got in touch with Dario who runs with his father El Despeñadero estate shoot in Spain to ask a few questions as i was thinking of taking a day there. Dario instantly put my mind at ease so I booked. All I can say is that those partridges were the best I have shot at for a very long time. The accommotadion where we were was simply spectacular (Cigarral de las Mercedes) I would highly recommend taking a day or two at El Despeñadero estate, we took two. We come from US so we have already booked two more days for the next season. Our best, Bruce.

I have been fortunate enough to have shot at a vast number of shoots across the world over the years and I have to say that El Despenadero features as one of the top shoots. From the moment you book with Dario, the efficiency, helpfulness and welcoming hospitality of all the shoot staff is evident. If you can only get to one shoot in the year, make sure it’s at El Despenadero. If fact, if you only ever shoot one, this should be it. From the wonderful warm welcome, all the way through to the post-shoot dinner, everything was run to perfection. The variety of drives was well chosen for the conditions, and it all ran like clockwork but with a relaxed feel. Everyone that we met on the day made my guests and myself feel so welcome, staff and other guns.

Once again and after multiple visit to this wonderful estate I can not thank enough to Darío and his team. We had again a really wonderful days, absolutetly perfectly managed, first class new lodge and unbelievable birds. After more than 20 years shooting in every corner of the world and visiting multiple estates I am proud to say you are one of my favourites. Very well done guys. Very well done.

A perfect Partridge day. Dario and his team are very welcoming and creates a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere from start to finish. Nice variation of drives, with amazing well-presented birds, so plenty of shooting for all guns. Full credit to Dario and his very well organised Team of Beaters, house staff, game keepers, etc. a perfect back to back days. Booked again for next season.

Coming from the US and first time for us finding an estate through Guns on Pegs everything was very easy from the beginning with Darío. The clarity of instructions, easy and quick communication made our trip easier than expected. Once in Spain the perfect organization surpass our expectations. Very warm welcome on the evening before and morning of the day and introductions to the team made us feel very welcomed. Excellent birds and superb hospitality. We were a little worried because of was our first time travelling with guns to Spain, but instructions were very clear and the drivers helped us with everything imaginable. We can say was one of the best shooting experiences we had so far as well as one of the most elegant and best organized shoots we have been.

An unforgettable experience! The partridge hunt was perfectly organized from start to finish. The staff was extremely professional and everything ran smoothly. The atmosphere was authentic and welcoming, making it feel both exciting and comfortable at the same time. I was impressed not only by the quality of the hunt but also by the hospitality throughout the day. Truly one of the best hunting experiences I’ve ever had – I can’t wait to come back.

You and your family were exceptional hosts and took fantastic care of all of us. The experience truly raised the bar for what a shooting day in Europe should be like. A truly outstanding day’s shooting. The drives were extremely well organised and the birds provided exactly the kind of challenging sport we all hope for. The hospitality throughout the day was excellent and the whole team worked incredibly hard to make it such an enjoyable experience. Simply a superb day in the field. The birds were high, fast and properly testing, exactly what you hope for when travelling to Spain. Everything was run with great professionalism and the hospitality was first class throughout the day. Darío and his team clearly take great pride in what they do and it shows in every detail. We flew over from Toronto for a few days of shooting in Spain and the whole experience exceeded our expectations. The birds were strong and challenging, the countryside was beautiful, and the organisation throughout the day was excellent. All El Despeñadero team made us feel incredibly welcome and everything ran seamlessly from start to finish. It was well worth the trip from Canada and we’re already talking about coming back next season.
